Chicago’s physical and social landscape has been dramatically transformed over the course of the past 20 years or so.

Here is the site of the Robert Taylor Homes, in 1996 and 2010:

Here is South Grant Park and Central Station, 1998 and 2010:

And here is the Stevenson Expressway Corridor, Will County, 1990 and 2009:

Chicago, today, is a fundamentally different city—having redistributed the poor, gentrified the downtown area, and converted farmland into great depositories of merchandise.
