True story: back in the 1980s, I was flying to Managua to conduct research on the role of the state and planning in the Nicaraguan economy. Just before taking off, I spotted Mike Wallace and his entourage toward the front of the plane and my first thought was, “He must know something I don’t. The United States is getting ready to invade.”
Fortunately, the invasion didn’t happen. And I never saw Wallace again.
