Which is why the left really needs to analyse and break down inequality and make compromises bit by bit. How much income spread is OK? What rewards other than income matter? How do we separate consumption from investment? What about wealth as power? Otherwise we’re stuck between the utopian idealist and the tame reformer of the cartoon.
