UHNWI-2013

According to the latest Credit Suisse (pdf) report on world wealth,

total global wealth grew by 4.9% from mid-2012 to mid-2013, but the number of millionaires in the world grew by 6.1% during the same period, and the number of UHNW [Ultra High Net Worth] individuals rose by more than 10%. It therefore appears that the world economy remains conducive to the acquisition and preservation of large and medium-sized fortunes. . .

The USA has by far the greatest number of members of the top 1% global wealth group, and accounts for 42% of the world’s millionaires. The number of UHNW individuals with wealth above USD 50 million is nearly eight times that of the next country, China.

Is this perhaps the real meaning of “American exceptionalism”?
