I do think it’s ridiculous not to make arrangements to house people in times of disasters like these. However, I also think it’s ridiculous to try to force private organisations to lose profit by picking up the slack. The government doesn’t own all these hotel rooms, vacation homes, and empty lots. Those are owned by people and companies, and when other people use them, it costs the people or their companies money, not to count wear and tear. Something definitely needs to be done, and yes, America needs to get its priorities together, but private rights should also be respected.
